IV International scientific and practical conference Successful gardening and processing: technologies and innovations. Learning to win!"
June 1–2, Kamianets-Podilskyi
The organizer of the conference is the media group Technologies and Innovations, the publisher of the journals Horticulture and Vegetable growing & Nutwood T.I., Berryfield, Drinks & Beer. T.I.
For the third time during wartime, the media group Technologies and Innovations gathers readers and partners of its publications to share experiences, promote the latest technologies, discuss methods and ways of caring for plantings of promising garden crops on the eve of the next season, improving the quality of fruits. Everything to strengthen farms and companies, expand their opportunities in sales markets, strengthen the country`s economy in difficult wartime.
The topic of the conference is extremely relevant, because it covers all garden crops - from apples and pears to stone fruits (cherries, cherries, peaches, apricots, etc.) and nut and berry crops. The task is to develop a strategy for successful horticulture, despite wartime, to overcome the existing challenges that exist in the modern market, and to win leading positions in the European and world production of fruits, berries and nuts. It is time to choose the most promising crops, the most productive and profitable varieties, in order, if necessary, to re-plan gardens and plantations, to increase the quality level of fruit cultivation and harvests.
International scientific and practical conference Successful gardening and processing: technologies and innovations. We learn to win! will last two days.
June 1 – the plenary part of the conference.
The program of the event includes speeches by managers of horticultural farms, fruit, berry and nut processing enterprises, a presentation of the latest scientific and market research by industry experts, reports from representatives of technological companies on innovative approaches and solutions in horticulture, nut and berry growing, communication with representatives of trade and restaurant chains and exporters.
In particular, the program plans to:
• Discussion of the situation in the horticultural industry during wartime and finding ways to solve them;
• Presentations by Ukrainian and foreign experts about the successful experience of growing and processing garden crops - grain, stone, nut;
• Presentation of the latest varieties and technologies;
• Exhibition of modern technologies, equipment and equipment for gardening and processing;
• Presentation and tasting of products based on fruits and berries: juices, ciders, fruit and berry wines, tinctures and liqueurs, distillates, jams, purees, dried fruits, etc.
• Business tour to the leading horticultural farms of the region, specializing in the cultivation of stone crops;
June 2 – business tour to the region`s leading farms for the cultivation of stone crops - Makosad and Gold Romi.
Makosad – traditional crops here have always been apples and pears. Later, the founders of the farm decided to plant a cherry orchard. We chose high-quality seedlings of the Italian production of Battistini Vivai on the dwarf rootstock Gisela 5 – Royal Helen, Grace Star®, Kordia, Satin® Sumele, Staccato, Skina. Anti-hail and anti-rain systems from the company Artes Polytechnic Ukraine were immediately installed. All orchards are covered with an anti-hail net: apple, pear, plum. But the anti-rain system was installed only on cherries. The Makosad company has installed irrigation from the Eucalyptus R company. A critically important point in the technological cycle is the rapid cooling and sorting of cherries. Air coolers from the MAS Systems company were installed at the Makosad farm.
The apple orchard at FG Makosad was grown immediately as an export-oriented crop. The following varieties grow in the garden: Gala, Fuji, Red Delicious, Golden, Granny Smith. The farm chooses Italian seedlings from the Malleier nursery, because the climate in this country allows growing strong planting material, and the varieties themselves grow perfectly in Ukraine. Makosad sells Bukovyna apples to various countries: UAE, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Libya, Sweden, England, Qatar, France, Turkey, Jordan, Greece, Yemen, etc.
Gold Romy is a farm that grows 20 hectares of plum orchards, 20 hectares of pear orchards, 9 hectares of cherry trees and 60 hectares of apple trees. Intensive gardens at the Gold Romy company are covered with an anti-hail net by Artes Polytechnic Ukraine. The harvested crop is stored at the farm until the very summer in its own storage for 3,000 tons, equipped with a system of regulated gas environment. Part of the harvest is sold for export, while the majority is intended for the domestic market.
The goal of the conference remains the same: popularization and introduction of modern technologies for growing and processing fruits, nuts and berries, promoting the revival of traditional Ukrainian drinks based on fruits, berries and honey and the production of value-added products. Traditionally, the event will become the main all-Ukrainian platform for exchanging ideas and uniting all players of this market!
Topics of speeches:

• Labor resources in horticulture: search for new approaches.
• Climatic changes and new challenges in horticulture: fight against spring frosts, excessive rains, hail.
• Should apple orchards be uprooted? What in return? New effective solutions for market success.
